Youth Rodeo Series
About Youth Rodeo
The HFF Youth Rodeo Series is composed of two series, with each series featuring four events beginning annually in October and concluding in May. The divisions include mutton bustin’, calf riding, and steer riding. Throughout the series, participants accumulate points to determine the champion for each division. At the fourth and final event of each series, the champions are announced and awarded their buckles. Cash prizes are given to first-place winners at each event, based on qualified times.
Participants in the HFF Youth Rodeo Series may also receive a paid invitation to the Annual Florence Jr Parada, held every Thanksgiving weekend in Florence, AZ. Established in 1932, this event is considered the oldest junior rodeo globally and takes place over two days at the Charles Whitlow Arena, alongside the AJRA.
Entry in the HFF Youth Rodeo Series is currently the only way to become eligible for a paid spot in the mutton bustin’ division at the Annual Florence Jr Parada. A total of twelve participants are selected to compete in two rounds for the championship buckle.
Additional activities are available during events, including sheep scrambles, stick pony races, Mother’s Day scramble, adult beer bungee run, and more. Three of the eight events feature a grand entry with the Florence Jr Parada Royalty.
Event schedules may vary and can include themes, special guests, and occasions such as the Cowboy Christmas & Parade in December, which is held at the arena. It is recommended to review the schedule for specifics regarding each event.
